I'm thinking of possibly doing a big Random Acts fundraiser next year, I have a hall that I could use but it's the planning and coming up with ideas as to what to actually do that would raise money that I need to figure out. So any ideas what would make money? I know I could do a raffle, and get prizes for free.

Ok complete change of plan, I'm now doing a birthday donation for Lumos. It's my 30th next year so using that as my starting point, with hopefully a Harry Potter themed night, thinking a quiz and maybe a magic show or something
Apparently I can't stay away from doing random stuff for charity, doing a fire walk in November! I probably should think about fundraising for that, so far my only real plan is to take my sponsorship form to VB with me.

My friends did a firewalk a few years ago, but for a team/self building thing instead of charity. They loved it! It'll be so much fun
How much have you raised for charities so far in your combined efforts? Does it all go to Random Acts?
I only donate 20c a week to church lol, its all I can spare at the moment.

I haven't done much for random acts for a while, I have various t shirts and things from them though, gish and non gish.
I did race for life recently and could have done more sponsorship than I did for it, but I think I was trying to forget I had to do the run!
My sponsored child I've had for two years now, she's £300 a year, which is a lot but still cheaper than having a baby! She's the only child I'll have!
I give to local charities too, but not a regular amount, when they do events or things that I go to. Like the Harry Potter quiz night, that was a charity event.

I didn't even get a Christmas shoebox done, the collection date was during our lockdown. However I have managed to donate some toys to the local radio appeal. I didn't think I would be able to even do that, but a guy essentially gave us £200 for toys for this appeal, and was coming in to collect them, so I was able to give them to him as well.

I think this year is the least amount of volunteer work that I have done, in maybe my whole life. The town fair/show was cancelled cos covid, I stopped at the environment centre and the town newspaper (was already winding back on that, too many social events). Glad someone out there is picking up the slack
I think my mind likes this newfound slackness.... I might just stick to congregation based volly work and donations from now on. I get a lot more back from that, and they have clear rules. It's much, much easier.

Not really a fundraiser, but I've signed up for a cat felting day for the Cats Protection, they send you the materials and people make the cats, they're doing live videos to show you want to do.

Might be doing a bunch of fundraising soon, looking into getting a defibrillator machine for church and will need to raise quite a bit for it. Got to discuss it more with the priest first, see if there's a suitable place it could go.
We discussed it, and decided as there 2 doctors surgeries and a hospital all within 2 minutes it wasn't worth us raising the money for it at this time. That doesn't mean that I don't have plenty of other ideas for our parish though!
