Including the between season time jumps, how many years is Supernatural actually set over?

There's 4 months between 3/4 and a year between 5/6. Isn't there a jump between 7/8 too

Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, Season 4, Season 5, 1 year unaccounted for, Season 6, Season 7, 1 year unaccounted for, Season 8, Season 9, Season 10, Season 11, Season 12, Season 13, Season 14, Season 15. Pretty sure that makes 17 years, however, they don't count the years in canon, it's technically the middle of 2019 for them, even though it should be 2021, at least. One of my most hated/disliked things the show ignores :(

I thought it should be earlier than our time. Because they have the mid-season hiatus which often is not a time jump in the show but there are two or three months between one moment and the next and then they have the off-season where it's about six months or so, and depending on the storylines, there sometimes isn't a time jump at all.

I think they are actually living in the past and not the future. Or at least real close to present time.

Is there any episode that dates it? Like has a date in the episode?

I wouldnt imagine that they should be in the future. I kinda guessed it was about 2015 for them but there was a year between 7 and 8 which triggered the question.

Thinking about it, some seasons really don't have a huge time gap during the hiatus, season 1-2 is pretty much carried on with no gap, 2-3 doesn't really have gap either? 3-4 does, 4 months, 4-5 doesn't, 5-6 does have a year, 6-7 not sure, but I don't think much time as past, 7-8 has another year gap, 8-9 doesn't have a gap, 9-10 has 6 weeks, 10-11 don't think has one, 11-12 doesn't have one, 12-13 doesn't have one, 13-14 has a few weeks.

The gaps only add up to around 2 and half years. It started at Halloween? 2005. Sam and Jess were dressed up, but not sure if it was Halloween or something else.

Exactly. I don't think there is any way it's in our current time, let alone some future time.

However we don't know how long a season is for them, some episodes might take place on the same day others could have weeks between. We need to figure out how long a season is for them.

My head is too full of unimportant crap. And speaking of unimportant crap; sure they won big, but they still suck.

Well, it was several months after Trump was elected and they just made a remark about him getting elected. I don't recall which episode, obvi, because I am not some mental that holds all of that in storage.

Well, apparently I am some mental that holds all of that in storage because what you're talking about occurs in the finale of S13, when Sam gets Bobby and the rest up to speed about events from his dimension :)

I recall Dean going to the past and mentioning things in the future, cheese in a can, Obama and the price of gas?

S7 Time After Time, when he skips back to the 1940s and meets a historical figure.

Season 8, or at least some part of it is set in 2013, as that's what Kevin is crossing off on his calendar January/February 2013.

Abandon just said she traveled to 2013 to find Crowley was the king of hell in s8. At least this season is consistent with it!
