I enjoyed this ep, but the demon in Jack was a little too much, his spells were too easy and too powerful, I hope that he disappears soon. However I did like that him being in Jack wasn't just brushed off, that Cas hated it and couldn't even look at the guy. I like that he referenced Dean being in Hell and how he used to torture people. Plus them finally remembering about the cage and Micheal being there.

Despite the creepiness of the clown ghost and us seeing a lot of old familiar ones, there was still a little humour in it, mainly from Cas, him stating he wouldn't stave, and that Sam shot him, plus you have Dean trying to tell Sam a joke while he disinfected the bullet wound.

Overall I enjoyed it and look forward to seeing where this season goes. Plus we're all rats in the supernatural maze!

Reaction post :) Not looking at spoilers above til after ;)

Ugh Jack with no eyes uughh
Kicking off with a fight, way to go. OOOh freaky title card. No idea what they are going to do next! Oh boys, pretty as ever (sw), cept for eyeless Jack. Haha "I wouldn't starve"

Escaping through water.. I think I read too much into this sometimes hehe. Oh no escape that way. That's how I kill mice, good job Cass.

EEEK!!! Eyeless Jack is terrifying. Balthazar? Get to the point. LOL twinsies with those glasses? Call back the movie Twins?

You boys are so trusting. I hope he follows through. I think I will like alternative Jack, all the other boys have had a go with an evil driver.

Does any teenage girl actually do dress up like that? I do know teenage girls who ripped into their cheeks like that, never wearing a tiara though. Bloody Mary?

Ghost-pocolypse hehe, I like that! 3 billion, so about a third of the population? reading too much into this again lol.

Woo literal back to the start, I figured this would be the way to go. Coolies.

Aww poor Cassface, Nice to see that humanish side. Guns in a glove box lol so american.

LOL he's not wrong, Dean is gorgeous. Very convenient that No Eyes wants to help... we'll see how that ends.

My exquisite ass is eating chips, so less typing ahead.

Ohhh Micheal back! Cas has sewing healing powers too.

Undead cant stay dead now? I like this daylight fighting.

Anyone know latin? Whats he saying?

Runn Sammy Ruunnnn!

Just them ay. Oki doki :) Aw cute end shot.

Think that was the gun that Sam used on Chuck that Dean put in the glovebox

Yeah I figured thats why they pointed it out and No eyes Jack knowing where it is might be for a reason too. I would have thought Dean would find a more secure location but I spose since they are on the road its as secure as any.

The bullet still being in Sam means its still in Chuck too ay? I dont think he is completely gone and they are on their own as they think, but that probably wont come into play until the end of the season.

I liked the episode, a good way to start. Drawing the battle lines and setting the characters. I like the look of the sets, the graveyard and all of that. We get a better look at the costumes in the day light.

While a bit of a disappointing premiere, I did really like the last 10 minutes (basically the trunk-talk) and a few moments here and there in the episode, so let's just lay out all the bad and end with the good.

Everything but the beginning taking place in daylight was not a good move, it made all the ghosts seem way too pretty, instead of gritty, and it made it way less scary or whatever it's supposed to be. The new (and final) title card was the first time I was confused, but I'm not gonna say anymore on that because we may get it later in the season. Also, most of the ghosts were also way too pretty, they used to at least attempt to make them looked a bit decayed and stuff. This new season just feels way to...CW. Which sounds dumb, I know, but it used to be the redheaded step-child of the network and now it fits in a little too well.

However, it wasn't all a giant disappointment; Castiel was the best part of it, followed closely by Alex Calvert as a demon in Jack's body (loved the accent, whether it was a good one or not), loved the idea of the past coming back to get them for the final season, the tease about Michael (although I wanted to see Dean tell Sam about the cage) and, as mentioned, the final talk by the car.

I like to wait until I've seen a full season to judge, but for the moment this gets a 6.5/10 rating. Glad to know you all seemed to enjoy it more than me, though ;)

Yeah I defo enjoyed it more than you haha. Getting a good look at costumes and sets pushes my buttons, but perhaps that comes from being a performer.

I like the prettiness of the CW, I grew up with soaps and am unsure why it cops flack for being what its always been (noticed a heck of a lot more CW hate/teasing of fans since being in the 100 fandom, it seems more like the "cool" thing to tease than for any specific reason). Its supposed to be shallow tv.

I thought it was a real solid start. I will miss this format of tv when it is gone.

I did too,I kept waiting for Dean to tell him when they were talking.

I was a little disappointed that we didn't see Jack and Billie, but they did that before with seeing Lucifer in the empty too.

Thought that was a pretty solid opening of the season. I liked it.

Feels like they are setting it up for a real nostalgic last season though. :)
Was all those ghosts from previous episodes? I don't know the show well enough to remember them...

Yes, I recognised the woman in white (first episode) and bloody mary. Not sure about the clown specifically, but we all know Sam hates them.

I loved the shots of Baby too, so glad she has survived the road trip.

Eyeless jack did state his name - did anyone catch it? It sounded like he said balthazar to me but I must have heard wrong.

Momentary trauma at seeing Jack’s death again in the recap. I actually really like the demon in him, he is really funny to me a s smoothly solved the problem of them having to lug his corpse around.

Overall a good start, but I really didn’t t like the daylight setting. I remember years ago that the studio complained about how ”dark” the show was, so they did the jinn episode. But I kind of hate the daylight stuff. As mentioned above it makes the ghosts less effective.

Loved the callback to season 1 at the end.

A good opening, even though I hate it when they replace actors, even for the ghosts, just makes it look/feel like they got an off-brand bargain version, like with Nick’s wife last season.
