EXCLUSIVE: Supernatural, one of the most important series in the history of the CW, is eyeing a comeback with a new iterationwith prequel The Winchesters, centered on Dean and Sam Winchester’s parents. The project, now in development at the network, is executive produced by Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, who will also reprise his Dean Winchester character as a narrator of the new show, and Ackles’ wife, Supernatural recurring guest star Danneel.

I thought we got enough of the Mary/John backstory on the main show, but if this goes ahead, I have enough time to watch it. Seems Jared was kept out of the loop going by his twitter reaction.

I don’t particularly like Mary and John together so I wish they decided to do a prequel about John, Sam and Dean as children instead.
But I’ll watch it...unless this twitter feud between Jensen and Jared is fake, in that case I will be boycotting :D
Regardless it didn’t take them long to continue this show lol.

Yeah I assumed it would be back in some from some time, but didnt expect this quick! Does Jensen miss Dean already? Why not just do another few seasons if that was the case! Ha. I wonder what is happening with The 100 prequel if this one is getting the go ahead.

I might have liked a men of letters spin off, go way back, but I guess the 70's/80's is still "in" so maybe thats why this story was chosen. Might be cute to have a demon fighting couple on screen, but we already know how they end so it probably takes some of the thrill out of it, being so depressing. It will start to feel like "why keep fighting" instead of the spn "always keep fighting" thing.

I'm a bit confused...
I realize that I didn't really paid 100% attention to all details while watching the show. But did Mary and John ever hunt together?

Thought that John started that after Mary's death.
But I might be very wrong about that. lol

Anyway. As a concept this doesn't interest me at all.
Hopefully they will manage to make it good anyway.

Oh yeah, there isnt much room in their adult life for the demon part before Mary dies.

Maybe Jensen was eager to continue the character because he was unhappy with Dean’s ending. I’m still looking for news about The 100 prequel but it sounds more interesting than this one.

I think they go back and change the history quite a lot I’ve only seen the whole show once but since it’s revealed that Mary didn’t stop hunting after having the boys I guess Mary and John could have hunted together.

Looks like Jensen and Jared have done the public kiss and make up, so thats sorted.

But yeah, now I wonder now just what john and mary story will be told. Doesnt seem to be much support for the idea.

The only thing that they can really do is the bit between Mary making the deal with Azazel and her dying, however we did get a bit of that too.

Im actually a bit surprised that it was Jensen to do this. I mean, I figured if anyone was overly attached to SPN fame, it would be Misha. Jensen has a LOT of other options. Is it because he could work with his wife? Or did he want to be top dog? I just didnt expect there to be more SPN stuff so soon when spin off ideas totally failed before.

I think it was an easy option for him, they've set up this company and need something to launch it, this has a fanbase already as well.

I watched the first couple of episodes...

Don't know really. I guess it feels pretty much like Supernatural with another cast. lol
A bit different vibe obvious without the siblings dynamic from the original. Instead this more boy crushing on woman stuff. I really prefer the sibling vibe.
But I don't find it that bad actual.

Have no idea how much the show destroys the continuity from SPN. Don't know it good enough to judge. And I'm probably better off not knowing. :)

I still might watch it if it becomes available on a free channel. It might be there but I haven't actually looked for it.
