Does anyone find the hatred of SPN characters for being who they are (broken), to be tiresome? Like, there is no acceptance for a character to act in reaction, perhaps unreasonably, to a situation, only anger that they did not act according to tumblr utopian laws. Or loud whining that an issue "wasnt addressed" like some schoolyard arguement being moderated in the principals office.

Compassion for flawed characters seems less, unless it is a socially acceptable flaw, judgement for being and acting human on tv is ever increasing in fan spaces (that i visited this week). It seems only superhumans are allowed to muck up and still be adored.

This problematic attitude generally comes from people who cannot relate in any way to physical or emotional trauma and looks to further stigmatise fans in the real world who do not behave according to mental wellness from a psychology textbook.

It is a bore to dwell on issues and a significant problem if one is led to believe that dwelling is healthy. It is exciting to see events arise and characters moving past them. Showing strength and resilience by moving on, not letting a hit turn into a depressing dialogue of thoughts and feelings. (Fandoms influence is not lost on me).

Why are the nitpicks and pokes at personality flaws the most popular? Why do some fans want to dwell on issues that have been moved passed? If the characters can continue on without excessive conversation on each and every trauma, is that not the ultimate sign of strength? Should we not be encouraging an attitude of self reliance instead of condemning courage?

Just wondering, I guess, if this is one of those 'silent majority' situations. Is it a disproportionate amount of fans being heard when it comes to emotional evaluation of damaged characters? It'd be really bloody boring if they were all perfectly behaved plesent people (ie Heartland).

Are there others (here) that can let some traits slide, rather than get caught up in labels of toxicity? Which the labels themselves, seem toxic?
