My thoughts on finale - major spoilers

Hey y'all! Long time no see.

So, I finally finished the series! WOW! What a ride.

I have a LOT of thoughts on the finale. Overall, I loved it.
I am really impressed and it's a MIRACLE that I didn't see any spoilers.
Even more amazing since the finale aired in Nov of 2020. I was careful to avoid discussion online and avoided this forum until I finished it.

Firstly, I ALWAYS figured the show would end with Sam dying. Since there was always such an emphasis on Dean's role of being Sam's protector, it always seemed like that's how it would end, in this big dramatic situation where Dean couldn't save Sam

I was honestly surprised when they killed off Dean.

But it was perfect. And so sad. How anticlimactic and ironic for Dean to die in a freak accident during a fight. Also staked like so many vamps he had in the past. And how in the end they switched roles. Sam was the one to comfort Dean and tell him it was going to be okay. He was the stronger one for once.

I loved that we saw a glimpse of the Roadhouse in Heaven with of course the suggestion that Ellen and Jo were there. I was really hoping to see them.

Also? The women who ended up with Sam? Who do yall think it was/wanted it to me? For me, it was DEFINITELY Amelia. In my heart it was. That was my first thought. My mom who watched with me thought Sam may have started fresh with a new girl but I like to think he went back to Amelia. Most likely it was Eileen, though.

One question though: If Dean stayed the age he arrived in Heaven as, why didn’t Sam? Why was he young again when he arrived? I get that thematically it was nice but didn’t really make sense, right.

I'd love to hear any and all thoughts on the finale!

Oh I have a theory on that, it's Dean's version of Heaven, he's the one we see die and is waiting for Sam, so when Sam dies Dean sees him as he was before, so us being in Dean's heaven we see him that way too.

Yay! Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

Dean going out on a monster of the week seemed fitting for him. No extra big bad about it and Sam accepted it for him. I did not like Sams aging wigs but it was a laugh at least.

One question though: If Dean stayed the age he arrived in Heaven as, why didn’t Sam? Why was he young again when he arrived? I get that thematically it was nice but didn’t really make sense, right.

I did a thread on heaven somewhere here, cos the whole heaven as earth thing just doesn't appeal to me personally, but obviously works for the show, and I guess they go back to their prime age in the afterlife (extra ripe as they were ;) )
