Supernatural depicts Heaven as on the Earth or an Earthly type realm. This leads me to asking what is your idea of Heaven?

I had initially thought it a place of eternal bliss for souls, the only awareness is one of peace - perhaps a bit like Buffy described it. But in reading into the biblical links between SPN and the actual bible, I found the depiction of heaven as being a paradise on Earth fits far more closely than I previously envisioned. That "Heaven" is law of peace where we are rather than a place we go.

So was the realm of Heaven in SPN actually on Earth, but different dimensionally, like purgatory or Micheals angel ruled dimension or even Hell? Or was this just the easiest way to show it, without any biblical base?

I don’t know anything about how heaven is described in the bible but I found Supernatural’s version very safe and I didn’t really like it. It’s just one of those depictions of heaven that if you think about it, it stops making a lot of sense. It’s overly simplistic, it’s just Earth but there’s no demons, everyone’s happy for some reason and everyone you love lives near to you. But what if John had fallen in love with someone else after Mary? That wouldn’t be ‘perfect’ for Dean. What about when Sam’s family dies, do they join him in heaven with Dean so he has to get to know them and it’s just like being on Earth and alive? Or does everyone have their own heaven? To me Supernatural’s original idea of heaven (permanently being stuck in a happy memory) was better although I didn’t like the way everyone was in rooms and the Angels could mess with anyone.

I think heaven sounds nicest the way Buffy described it because I could understand how she could never get bored because you just exist as a bunch of nice feelings. But I’d like to add what she didn’t which is that you can feel your loved ones around you.
